When Competition Doesn't Make Sense
We have become so used to competing, both at an individual and organisational level, that we rarely stop to consider whether this behaviour is beneficial, or whether it might actually undermine our effectiveness. This article points out the problems which arise in taking competition to extremes and illustrates how at least one applauded corporate leader has introduced collaboration alongside competition.

The Truth About Balance
I have heard two sides of the same story time after time about the word balance. It's time I lay this whole thing to rest and explain what true balance is and how an understanding of it can help you to create the life of your dreams. Balance, based on Webster's dictionary means - 1. state of rest due to equal leverage around a point or line. 2. state of harmony, stability, etc. 3. put in balance. You get the idea. Balance is basically a point of non-movement. A position that is completely in harmony with every other position around it.

Going To Extremes To Get The Fastest Results
Many people are on the path of personal development, but often times they never realize what that truly means. To get the best results in life, we often have to move so far outside our comfort zones that we are constantly in a state of being uncomfortable. This is the quickest method to get the changes you want. So many people take baby steps to get to where they want to go and are proud of a tiny bit of movement. As though pulling their car backwards five inches is a wondrous thing when they are trying to get to California from New York city. If you want to get to California from New York as quickly as possible, you need to put your car in high gear and the peddle all the way to the floor. In fact, just go steal a jet plane and fly. Here is how to do this in your personal development.

The Importance Of Believing In Your Own Purpose And Beliefs
There are many people out there who avoid success simply because those around them might criticize them for what they are doing, even if they are doing what they love. Many times, well meaning people that love us can do the most harm to us and our happiness. These people don't mean to do what they do, I'm sure, but often times their words about what we want can cause us to rethink what we are doing. We must remember that success comes only after we follow our hearts and chase our dreams. No man became successful without first having critics and second ignoring those critics, regardless of who they were. Many successful people had family and friends disown them simply because they chased their dreams. Sometimes the cost of happiness is the loss of things we hold dear. The real question is whether you are willing to be right for your life and your happiness, or right for other people.

The Map And Development Of Consciousness Part 2
In the last part of this series, we discussed the negative levels of consciousness. In
this part we will briefly discuss the positive levels of consciousness. It is important
to take an honest evaluation of where you currently are and what needs to be done
to move on to the next level of consciousness. It is harder and harder to accomplish great
things and realize the accomplishment of your dreams and goals until you are able to
transcend the lower levels of consciousness and begin to move in the positive realms.

The Hierarchy Of Needs Part 3
There are five basic needs that have to be taken care of in life. These basic needs have to be
taken care of in order for anyone to get to a point where they are able to truly express themselves in life and feel a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. The four lower level needs are basic daily survival. Not taking care of these needs will force us to put more energy and time into them than is necessary. Though the needs are broken down as separate entities, they are interconnected. Each higher need is connected to the needs below it, and not properly taking care of a lower need will cause a need to back track. The five needs are physiological, safety, love/belonging, esteem, and self-actualization.

7 ADD-Friendly Ways to Make Your Workplace Happier
In a study of 1,134 parents, 25% said they wouldn't be happy if their child became friends with a kid who had attention deficit. This wasn't ten years ago. This study was reported in Science Daily March 21, 2007*! They went on further to say that they wouldn't want an ADHD kid to live next door. Why is this? There have been so many advancements in understanding attention deficit that this statistic is shocking. Even worse, they continue to connect AD/HD to the stigma of mental illness.
